That’s not Nostradamus!

Published by marco on

<q>In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a great King of Terror… The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city…</q>

<q>In the city of york there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb.</q>

<q>Third big war will begin when the big city is burning</q>

I’ve found a page debunking this Nostradamus quatrain being sent around. Apparently, it originated as an example of something Nostradamus MIGHT have written in an effort to show how easy it is to make a prediction that at some point must come true. Apparently it worked.

However, even the example given wasn’t enough, since the copy I’ve seen floating around has additional embellishments, pertaining specifically to adding a date to fit the timing of the attack perfectly.

Nostradamus wrote all of his predictions in French. And in code. Once translated from code and into English, that seems to leave a lot of room for interpretation.

To recap, this isn’t even a Nostradamus prediction. It’s just cobbled together from some embellishments from the latest authors:

<q>In the year of the new century and nine months, From the sky will come a great King of Terror… The sky will burn at forty-five degrees. Fire approaches the great new city…”</q>

…a deliberately fake Nostradamus phrase stolen from a site showing how easy it is to write them (with a few words changed, ‘God’ to ‘York’ and ‘endures’ to ‘collapse’):

<q>In the city of york there will be a great collapse, two twin brothers torn apart by chaos while the fortress falls the great leader will succumb.</q>

…topped off with a piece that probably comes from an interpretation of some other Nostradamus prediction:

<q>Third big war will begin when the big city is burning</q>
