<a href="http://www.comicvsaudience.net/images/flow_heavymetal.jpg" source="Comics vs. Audience" author="Doogie Horner">Heavy Metal Band Names</a> (pictured below; click for larger version) offers a well-thought-out taxonomy of many heavy metal band names, with five main categories---Deadly Things, Death, Religion, Animals and Badass Misspellings---branching into over a dozen sub-categories, among them "Pleas for Help", "Umlauts", "Medieval" and so on.
